Professor of the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Commercial and Medical Criminal Law at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg
Christian Jäger has been the Director of the Research Center for Commercial and Medical Criminal Law (FoWiMed) at the University of Erlangen since 2014. In addition to his university work, he has acted as an expert in commercial criminal law and has been a member of both the Ethics Committee and Ethics Commission at the University Hospital of Erlangen. He is also an expert in medical criminal law and, in this capacity, served as an expert witness for the German Federal Parliament (Bundestag) on the Patient Decree Act.
Christian Jäger has been a visiting professor at the University of Bordeaux since 2012.
He lectures in the qualification courses for specialist criminal lawyers (DAA, DeutscheAnwaltAkademie) and teaches criminal law and criminal procedural law in the Nuremberg Bar Association’s training courses for specialist criminal lawyers.
Christian Jäger is co-editor of the series Medizinstrafrecht (Medical Criminal Law, Nomos publishing house). He is an author in the legal commentary “Systematischer Kommentar” on the provisions on dawn raids and in the “Großkommentar Löwe-Rosenberg” on how to prepare the public trial.
Christian Jäger completed his law studies at LMU Munich. He worked for Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Claus Roxin, received his Ph.D. in 1995 and completed his habilitation in 2002. He held the chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the University of Trier until 2008, when he accepted a position at the University of Bayreuth. He moved on to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 2013, where he currently holds the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Commercial and Medical Criminal Law.
