Dr. Sophie Kargruber

Sophie Kargruber joined BMP in 2025 and advises and defends in all areas of criminal law.
She offers her clients a complete service from investigation to trial, in business crime cases as well as in serious and general matters.
Sophie studied and completed her law degree at LMU Munich where she focused on criminal law. She specialised in the area of criminal justice, criminal defence and prevention. Alongside her own studies, she led a seminar on didactics in criminal law.
After her First State Exam in 2020, Sophie worked as a research assistant at a specialist criminal law firm with a focus on business and tax crimes. Furthermore, she was part of Prof. Dr. Satzger’s team at LMU Munich at the Chair for German, European and International Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law and Business Criminal Law.
Sophie Kargruber successfully earned her PhD in 2024. She was awarded the Faculty Prize of the Faculty of Law at the University of Munich for her doctoral thesis.
During her traineeship in the district of the Munich Higher Regional Court, Sophie Kargruber worked in criminal defence at a renowned boutique criminal law firm in Munich, where she was able to gain practical experience, in addition to stages at the Munich Prosecutor’s Office and the Social Court.
Sophie advises in German, English and French and also speaks some Spanish.
